I was trying to explain to my three year old what Thanksgiving is really about. I talked to him while we took a walk to look at the river. I'm not sure he understood anything I was talking about. He seemed more interested in collecting acorns and pine cones. Although he does know that we are thankful for our family, because he said "I'm thankful for mommy, daddy, Isaac & Seth" - so perhaps he understands it a bit. I'm waiting for a book to arrive that I can read him and maybe that will help him to understand it a bit more. One thing we are all looking forward to this week is visiting our family. It will be a very quick trip, but it will be so nice to spend the holiday with our family.
Things I am thankful for:
- my family: I have a wonderful, god-fearing husband whom I adore. My boys are the light of my life. I love every day I spend with them, even the crazy moments, it's such a blessing to watch them grow and see their little personalities. Love them!
-extended family: my in-laws are the greatest and are always there when we need them. my family, even though I may think they are a bit crazy at times, is always there for a good laugh or listening ear.
- for Jesus: without Him I would have no hope. He is THE light of my life and I pray that I will continue to grow in Him. May I be a witness to others so God might be glorified.
- that our home is officially under contract. Yes! We finally have a buyer. Hope to close on it the end of December. We've already made a list of homes we want to check out. It has been amazing to see God's hand in all of this. Why do I not always put my trust in Him? I have seen through this that He always is leading and guiding us. A great illustration I heard the other day: Someone who has TRUE peace amidst the storm is like the ocean. When there is a hurricane and the water on top is churning and wild, the ocean floor is peaceful amidst the storm. That is how we must be.
- And even though I've had a bit of a difficult time with the whole moving situation...I am thankful for it. It has taken me out of my comfort zone, which is a good thing.
- I am thankful for the friends we have met here in TN and those that have taken the time to make us feel welcome here.
- So many "things" to be thankful for. We are tremendously blessed, even if we aren't financially rich, we are rich in so many other ways.
May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving.
